My training days

Pre-training – How am I going to endure 10 weeks of training?
Post-training – Can I have another 10 weeks?

Of course, another 10 weeks minus the working part. It’s just that I can’t bear to leave my nice colleagues who treat us well. Two of them already went back to Sarawak and Penang respectively to continue their studies. Although 10 weeks is kind of short, we managed to build a strong bond among us. Initially when Meng and me just entered the company, we merely go out with them for lunch. Then, as time goes by, we started to meet up for dinners, movies and etc. We had lots of fun together and we are all quite close, like we have known each other for years. I’m really grateful to know all you guys. We have been through all thick and thin to have such a friendship. Anyway, picture paints a thousand words. So, I’ll just upload the pics here to remind us the good time we had.

With Ophelia, the belle of the company. The first time to the company for interview, she was the only one Ah Kong and I noticed. Tall, fair and pretty. Shocked to know the fact that she’s married and is a mother of 2.

This were taken at Xie Shaoguang’s vegan restaurant, on Ophelia’s last day. Still don’t believe she’s now a mother? Well, obviously, the kid in this picture is her son.

This is Ah Chin, the first one we met (after Mr. Johnson, our training supervisor). He is the envy of most girls. Despite having the height of 1.78m, he weighs a mere 47kg and has a 27-inch waist.

The woman in the middle is Joyce. She is the wife of our 3rd boss. Also a mum now. Thinking why the 30-something ladies in our company are still so attractive? We’re wondering too. Btw, heard that Joyce was the Marketing Manager for Body Shop and Xixili before this. She really awed us for willing to work in the dusty control/production room and initiated the ‘spring cleaning’ there. But it’s kind of wasting effort, since control room will never be dust free (Well, at least for this time being).

Dr John, the Senior Technologist in the company. He’s from Myanmar and a daddy-to-be. I was assigned to assist him in the QC during my training.

Me and Meng. The guard been asking if we’re siblings. Do we looked alike?

The two trainees, Choo Meng and Low-Sim, at UTM. We came to UTM as Meng needs to submit her report in order to graduate on time. So, we brought them to UTM and let them admire the beauty
of UTM. Hiakz… Beauty? Looked more like a haunted place.

I really can’t stand CM. Was bursting in laughter when he was posing around in this angel-like halo. Looked like a transvestite but that was funny.

Yeah. It has been a long time since I last took neoprints. Guess how old is the little girl? She’s 11. According to her, she grew less than an inch since kindergarten. Anyway, she’s the daughter of a friend of my dad. We stayed at their place for 2 weeks as we’re nearly homeless that time.

This blur photo was taken outside CM’s new home at Kota Tinggi. We had a BBQ there. A rather special one. Why? Coz it was a vegetarian BBQ. I was kinda a vegan while working as CM is a
100% vegetarian. So we followed suit.

Yup, you’ve seen it correctly and explanation is unnecessary. They truly love each other. Love is without boundaries, and love is blind.

With Helen, WT’s purchaser who just resigned, and her family. Her son has long lashes. So envious. If you see him in person, you might think he used his mum’s mascara and eyeliner. No exaggeration here.

Our farewell dinner with our lovely and superb (ex-) colleagues. The guy in white is 'HOWK'. His aim is to go Australia to show the ang mohs his super six packs. Too bad CM and LS weren’t there. If not, more crazier stuff will happen that night.

Anyway, that's all. Guys, thanks for all the great times. Take care... Keep in touch, always...

Addicted...

What I wrote in my previous post becomes past tense. I will not recommend anyone else (unless it is someone I hate) to work there, despite the lucrative allowance for interns. Pressure is always there, which I think my roommate suffers more of it than me. Cooping in our small room is what we do everyday, after we come back from work. With laptop, all we can do is to online. Hence, after sometime, we are addicted to online shopping and bidding. So, eBay is the site we frequented. Bidding and winning is such an accomplishment. It makes our day. I just won myself a tube dress for only S$ 7 (kinda dirt cheap, but hopefully the dress don’t differ much from what I saw in the pics) in an auction.

I even asked Wee Chieh to help me to transfer the money to the seller and I even asked the seller to send it to her place. What are friends for? Hehe... Thanks, WC!!! Muakz...

By the way, I realized I'm becoming more and more like a cow. Now I’m okay with the idea of having veggie salad for dinner and before this, I don’t think I can accept eating something like this for dinner as I preferred something more solid. And most of the working days, my lunch is free from meat, as a colleague of mine is a vegetarian. I think few weeks later, I'll be eating the product produced by my company, rumen bypass fat, which is meant for the cows. Moo… Time for me to go grazing.

How I spent my Sunday...

Thought I’ll be spending my whole Sunday at home, watching drama. But I was wrong. When I was bout to go for lunch with my housemate, our boss called her. Then we ended up to have our lunch at the boss’ home, where we had breads with bacon, baked by his wife, one of the manager in the company I’m doing my attachment.

Then, we started playing Mahjong. Sigh… The mahjong they played is the complicated type de, where they took the ‘fan’ into consideration in order to win. It was my first time playing such mahjong, and with chips some more. Every time I was the slowest to arrange and stack up the tiles, slowest to react and there are few times that I don’t know I’ve won. If they played real money, then I don’t know how much I would have lost. Qian Fang, how’s your mahjong? Need to ask you be my master dy, impart me some of your skills.

After the mahjong session, both of us joined them and their family for dinner. Again, there’s another first time for me. The first time I drank beer, a glass of Heineken. Might sound nothing to you guys, but for me it’s quite an achievement as I don’t drink because I hate the smell and the taste. But no choice this time. No matter what, have to finish up that glass. Basically, I never expected I will get to go to our boss place and get to have dinner with so many people, since I went to the company to work only for a week. Anyway, now I’m waiting for a gathering at boss place for karaoke session as I’ve heard my colleagues that they will go to his place to sing K once in a while. I miss singing K…

I am not a Princess

Pei Shan was here last weekend. Throughout her stay, 3 of us spent most of the nights having pillow talks. “Princess” was what we frequently chatted about those few nights. Princess in what way, you would ask. Well, according to us, Princess is exactly for those who:

1. Possess soft voice, where 15 db is the best. Exactly, how loud is 15 db? Well, imagine the sound when a pin is dropped from a height of 1 cm at a distance of 1 m. That’s it. And soft voice alone is not enough. If they speak babyish, then it would be much better. Who don’t like manja girls?

2. Has a child-like thinking and is unassuming. They won’t ask you where babies come from, but they will ask something like this – How come there are bad guys, or even worse, do bad guys really exist?

3. Comes from a rich background. It is not a must, but this will be a plus factor, or some sort bonus, as it is able to promote the princess-y in self.

4. Come in small packaging. Oops, what I mean here is they are of size 00 or XXS. Who can tolerate a big size girl (i.e. me) manja-ing around? I myself shudder at the mere thought.

Not me...

Anyway, as conclusion, none of us possess the features listed above. And feigning it seems impossible. So, we can only say it’s fated that we are born like this. But isn’t nice being a princess, where knights come in shinning amour? Well, back to my dreams then.

P/S: These are just the main ones. There are still some other factors contributing to the making of a PRINCESS.

My inner thoughts

It had been ages since I last blogged. Now, I realized a weird habit of mine, where I will always find something else to do when I should be concentrating in doing my stuff. Previously, I was busy with my final year project when I started my new blog. And for now, I SHOULD be preparing for my last 2 finals papers. But then, the mood to blog resurfaces after zillion years.

I realized that friends around me started to find their other half, which I am definitely happy for them. And, if I say it doesn’t make me feel a thing (the impulse to be in a relationship, etc…), then I would be lying. Yup, you see it correctly. I am not in any relationship at the time being. Wonder why I am writing all this stuff? Well, I have been bottling my feelings all of the time. And I think it’s time for me to release them out and I presume that blogging it out will be the best way, since jotting it down in a diary is not something for me.

Anyway, a phone call from a close friend earlier on, made me start to ponder. It has been sometime that we chatted about our personal life, our ex-es, and so forth. Just now he told me that he thinks I would prefer going out with someone smart, outgoing, fun-loving and etc. Maybe he’s right, in a way, in general. But I told him I won’t be surprised that I remained unmarried rest of my life. By then, I will be an old spinster. Sigh… Sometimes I really wonder if I get to meet MY other half, with the falling in love feel and the sparks.

Actually, down with flu right now is the catalyst for all this thoughts. As I don’t have any medicine here, I thought of getting them from the minimart downstairs. But as now is the finals period, the minimart, which is operated by the fellow students, isn’t open. Then, thought of going down the hill to buy them, but isn’t it purely pathetic for me, someone who is sick, to go downhill to get the medicine for MYSELF? I rather continue having flu then. Partially is lazy la… =) But I have my own ego too. I know, if I asked for help from the guy I mentioned earlier on, he’ll definitely buy and bring the medicine to me, as he ferried my roommate to the clinic when she’s sick.

Whatsoever, hopefully there will be someone who asks me and my roommate out for lunch/dinner. Then, I get to buy the long awaited medicine.

Corporate lessons

Went to a compulsory seminar, joint organized by SPACE Degree++ and my faculty. I’ll spare you guys with the details, since seminars/talks are never interesting. But one interesting topic caught my attention - ‘Corporate Lessons’. Therefore I googled for it, once I got back. The following was exactly what I saw during the talk.

I think the morals of the stories are so true and relevant. Hope you guys had a good laugh.

Birthday at Sosaku

My birthday was exactly a week ago. Initially I thought of setting up my blog earlier or at least on that day, as a birthday present for myself. Years (or decades) later, I can looked back here and think, 'Wow, what a memorable birthday gift I had for myself'. It had jotted the every little bit of my life, from 23 years old onwards. How meaningful it would be. But due to my own nature, procrastination being a part of my life, I only started it a few days ago. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that I can still maintain this blog by then.
Last week, my friends celebrated my 23rd birthday at Sosaku Japanese Buffet Restaurant. To make things easier, I’ll start photoblog-ing here.

Here is some of the food we ordered. Initially I had a preconceived idea that everything is spread on a huge table, and we can take whatever we like, or there will be Kaiten-Zushi, where there will be unlimited supply of sushi. It turned out that we had to order from the menu, and only then they will prepare it.

This is Wee Chieh with the present she gave me. It’s a sheep from bearyhip but why sheep? Well, sheep is from the goat family and so is Capricorn. Maybe they're distant cousins? Hard to say. By the way, Wee Chieh named it 阿祝, as it means 'celebration'.

The girls start snapping pictures of themselves while waiting for the food to be digested, in order to get ready for the next round. Due to space constrain, I’ll only feature Yung Chian here.

Now, I shall show you the difference between with and without flash while taking photos. See the difference? On the left, Ho Sheng has the same skin tone as mine. The pic next to it was taken with flash. So, it turned out to be ‘black and white’.

Actually, apart from us, my juniors were there too, to celebrate Frankie’s birthday, which happens to share the same birthday with me. Here is our group photo. Quite a number of people, right? We nearly booked the whole restaurant.

Me and Frankie

I persuaded them to take this picture with me. It had been a long time since we last taken such pictures. Love you, my dear juniors, for being so obedient and cooperating. =)

How will a birthday be without a cake? How am I going to make a wish, blowing out the candles if I don't have any cake? Luckily Wee Chieh and Hsin Ching were thoughtful enough to do so. Thanks, girls!!

Anyway, that's all on my birthday. A note to myself: Never go Sosaku again, unless I want to try again the over-fried soft shell crab, dry ebiko, etc...Go Shogun instead.

蔷蔷 by Ella

This post will be a short and brief one.

The following song was written and composed by Ella in memory of her pet dog. It is so meaningful; therefore I would like to share it with you guys. To some, it might be a tear-jerker, especially to those who own pets.

This reminds me of my own Dusky, a gift from my besties on my 16th birthday. Although it has been quite sometime, I would still like to thank you, Dusky for being such a good companion all the time, minus the time you were too hyperactive, chasing and biting people, including me. Thanks for everything...

Friendster blog - My graduation day

It’s time for me to write about my graduation day, before I return to the land of misery tomorrow. Haha… Sounds gloomy, but in fact, it is. I’ll be having 2 tests in a day next week. It sucks… Ok, spare you with all this distressing details. From now onwards, in this blog, I shall only write about this joyous event – my convocation.

My diploma convocation was held last Monday. Reminiscing back, the impression it left on me – hectic. Throughout that very day, everyone was busy with their own things. For me, apart from staying inside the hall to wait for my turn to receive my cert, the rest of the day was used to take photos. Luckily digital camera is invented; otherwise we’ll be using hundred rolls of conventional film. Thanks to Qian Fang, for his 1GB memory card as the day before we went to Danga Bay with the same mission – picture taking. Hehe… Well, here I would like to take the opportunity to say thanks to lots of people – my family, Wee Chieh, UTM friends and not to be left out, my KL juniors. I’m glad and touched as well, that Wee Chieh and my KL juniors managed to attend my convocation, despite all the hassles. Thanks for all the flowers, the McDull pig and Ah Bang, the teddy bear you all gave respectively. The downside – after the convocation, all of us can hardly meet up, especially now QF is already on his flight to UK.

Well, one of the best things of being a diploma graduate is that I get to have two convocations in my life, not including the one I had when I was in my kindergarten. So, if everything goes well, I’ll be having my convocation again, in around 3 years time…

Friendster blog - Tata, my hamper

How should I feel when I know that I won some goodies from CLEO magazine? Thrilled? Then, how should I feel when I learned that the redemption date was over few days ago? Sigh…

You know, I’m super duper lucky to win something from CLEO magazine as it is tough to compete with so many people who are able to obtain a copy of the magazine, even before it’s available at the newsstands, or bookstores.

By the time I saw the letter, the date for me to redeem the prize has ended. Luckily it’s just a Summer’s Eve hamper worth RM 50. If I were to win Anna Sui/CK, I’ll be knocking my head against the wall. Hope I’ll win something (even better) from the magazine in the future. Hehe…

P/S : I received the goodies after all. Thanks CLEO!! I'm still your loyal reader. =)
